Roleplaying Rules |
|
This is a section based solely on rules for roleplaying in Helsgate. Read here especially if you are new to roleplaying.
-You must make a minimum TWO posts every 2 days. That could be a post per day or two posts every second day. This is to promote activity and to check who's inactive without saying so.
-You can roleplay in first (I went to the lake) or third (He went to the lake) person. Either is fine, but stick to one or the other. Third person is easier and recommended for beginners.
-Use a lot of detail and description in your posts. Describe how the person feels towards someone, how they are reacting to something, or what they are thinking about. Don't forget to talk to others nearby and describe what you are physically doing!
-State "OOC" (out of character) if you are saying something just as yourself. This prevents confusion.
-To go out of OOC, state "BIC", or, back in character.
-Don't roleplay in two places at once. It's not possible. If you forgot to leave somewhere and posted elsewhere, you may go back and post a leaving statement.
-No godmoding or powerplaying is permitted. Godmoding is where you can read thoughts, know actions, and basically be a know-all character. Powerplaying is actually playing the other person's character. Whether it's saying that the other character picked their nose (or something) without the RPer mentioing that they did, or actually giving a full description of what they are doing...it's not allowed. Anytime you even so much as assume what the other character is doing and they haven't said that, you will get a warning.
-People cannot read minds, know other's secrets, or use magic of any kind.
-As far as reading minds goes, just because a character describes his/her thoughts does not mean that another character knows what they are. It is simply to develop a character's personality, and help other players get an idea of the character. This is tricky to watch out for as you may post a few days later and think a person said something, but really only thought it. This is godmoding, and you can be warned for it.
-We all have bad writing days, and sometimes we're in a hurry to post. If this happens, or you just cannot think of anything to detail in your post, it's alright. Once or twice. More than that, and you will be watched by a moderator and told to start roleplaying properly. Try not to roleplay if you're in a hurry. Just do it later, nobody will continue without you.
Finally, all the same general rules at the top apply to any roleplay posts.
-Please make all of your posts at least 5, good, quality sentences long. I know we all have to hurry to post sometimes, but please, try to make your posts as detailed as possible. Dont forget to check your spelling and grammar, too.
Thanks!
